Helping children in our community is a strong part of our Christ the King tradition. There are many opportunities to help.
Back to School
In August, the members of Christ the King donate bookbags and school supplies to help needy children return to school with confidence. If you would like to help with Back to School, please contact Carla Fleming at carlafleming@nc.rr.com.
White Christmas/Angel Tree
Every December, CTK members provide presents for needy children whose parents are unable to purchase gifts for them. Volunteers select a tag from our Angel Tree, purchase the requested gifts, wrap them and return them before Christmas. We also host the annual party at which many of the gifts are distributed. If you would like to help with Angel Tree, please contact Carla Fleming at carlafleming@nc.rr.com.
Backpack Buddies
Working with the Interfaith Food Shuttle, we donate backpacks and specific food items for schoolchildren to take home to ensure they have enough nutritious food for the weekend. Volunteers also go to the Food Shuttle regularly to pack the backpacks. If you would like to help with Backpack Buddies, please contact Karen Maxwell at karenmaxwell520@hotmail.com.
Scholarships for Children
Many children would like to take part in Christ the King youth ministry events, but their parents cannot afford even the modest fees associated with some of these activities. Christ the King's Scholarship Fund allows generous donors to help children take part in ministry trips, camps and other faith-building events. For information, contact Pastor Elizabeth Neely, Director of Faith Formation and Congregational Life, at elizabeth.neely@christthekingcary.org.
