Adult Sunday School … It’s not just for the kids!

Adults meet for an hour on Sunday mornings to deepen their faith, choosing from a mix of classes that changes every fall, winter and spring. Classes meet during the Sunday School hour, 9:45-10:45 am. Feel free to stop by the Luther Café and get a cup of coffee and bring it to class with you! Check out the CTK map to locate rooms: upstairs/downstairs.

Winter Classes will begin January 15 (9:45-10:45 am)

The Emerging Church: Acts of the Apostles:  Heroic, inspiring, and exciting, the Book of Acts is one of the Bible's greatest adventure stories and our primary source of information about the life and exploits of the early church. Join us as we study how God empowered believers to carry out His "great commission" to proclaim and spread the good news of salvation in Christ to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. During the Winter term, we will explore the first 15 chapters of Acts, ending with Paul's First Missionary Journey. We will complete our study of Acts during the Spring term. This team-taught class features in-class reading, discussion, and supplemental videos. Our text is the Bible and we welcome anyone who wants to learn more about God's Word. Drop in and join us at any time during the Winter term, as your schedule allows.

C.S. Lewis: What does it mean to live as a Christian in a world culture that is increasingly hostile to Christianity? How do we make ethical decisions? What are the "core" things to consider? Join us to explore these questions as we discuss three works by C.S. Lewis - Voyage of the Dawn Treader, That Hideous Strength, and the Abolition of Man. Although reading is not required, should you wish to broaden your experience, all of these words are available in local libraries as well as for purchase in stores and on-line.

Repacking Your Bags: Lighten Your Load for the Rest of Your Life Book Study: Are you living the abundant life Jesus promised? Feed your hunger for a faithful, fulfilling life, and one that helps you to live in the place you belong, with the people you love, doing the right work, on purpose. Join Barb and Greg Petty, who will lead a book study on Richard Leider and David Shapiro's excellent book, Repacking Your bags: Lighten Your Load for the Rest of Your Life. This book will help you get your life under control, decide what really matters now, refine your smile, and discover a clearer sense of purpose in life. Be ready to live that abundant life, right here, right now.

Nooma Video Discussion: A frequent staple of our youth group program, the NOOMA videos seek to give fresh perspective on the teachings of Jesus. the name NOOMA is an English phonetic spelling of the Greek word pneuma, which is commonly translated into "spirit" or "breath". Pneumatology refers to the study of spiritual beings, particularly the interactions between humans and God. This class meets in the Parlor with the video beginning at 10:00.

Eat, Pray, Live: Eating and drinking are not only ordinary practices of human life; they make life possible. God gave us the gift of food and drink to sustain us. Join us in a conversation about how to use our relationship with God to improve our relationship with food. We will use the Made to Crave curriculum and additional resources to help find the "want to" for living a healthy lifestyle.
