ABC Singers and Band

The Affirm, Be...Come & Celebrate (ABC) band provides the music for Christ The King's Contemporary Worship service. The band performs every Sunday throughout the year at both the 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. services, with a special Christmas Eve service as well. Music is chosen for each Sunday from four contemporary songbooks: Spirit Touching Spirit, Spirit Calls Rejoice, With One Voice and Borning Cry. The group rehearses every Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m.

Each Sunday a special offertory song is performed in addition to the service music. Offertory songs are usually Contemporary Christian pieces, but can also be sacred vocals, appropriate secular pieces, or instrumentals. The band consists of a pianist, guitarists, a bass player and a drummer. On occasion a saxophonist, flutist and a trumpeter have joined us. The ABC band welcomes anyone who has instrumental or vocal talent to join our group.

Auditions are not necessary, just a willingness to learn new songs and to have fun.

Pastor Thom Nelson is the interim ABC band director.

Senior Choir

The Senior Choir sings every Sunday from September through June, alternating early and late traditional services. They rehearse on Wednesdays, 7:30 to 9 p.m. They do a variety of repertoire including classical anthems, hymn settings, and contemporary praise music. Twice a year they perform a larger work within the Sunday worship service. In the fall they prepare the entertainment for a madrigal dinner to earn money for musical activities.

No audition is necessary to join the senior choir, only a love of good music.

Dr. Sally Molyneux, who has a Ph.D. in Music History from UNC-Chapel Hill, directs the choir.
